Marriage is a logical step towards domestication which leads to organized civil governance.

Marriage is simply a derivative of Economics (not love). War, for that matter is just a consequence of Economics. Same is with marriage. It is just a trade off between the participants wherein the combination is larger than the sum of its parts.

In the beginning, both men and women would hunt for food and mate haphazardly. This created complete chaos, since the parents fought over the property (children). One Alpha male would kill another male to mate with the female. The male would go to the extent of killing her children, so that she agrees to mate with him (this practice exists between Lions to this day). It was difficult to recognize who is whom’s children. There was anarchy and disorder.

Also, it became difficult for a single entity to hunt down food since “organized” entities would overpower single ones and overrule them. “Herds” were a natural consequence of “organization”.

With “Herds” followed civil and social structures which demanded an institution which would create recognizable “Entities” with a boundary. A boundary can exist when the powerful entity is controlled and the easiest way to control the powerful entity is to tie him with a responsibility.

The philosophy of domestication

If you enter a bachelor’s room, you will immediately know that a bachelor sleeps here. You look at a bachelor, you won’t know. But enter his room and you will know that here lives an unmarried guy who has no concern for his home, bed and other “domestic” things. He comes here to sleep and that is all.

This guy is a big threat to the philosophy of domestication.

In time, this guy will find other bachelors and soon enough they will cause disturbance. Single women cannot cause disturbance to that extent, but if single men unite at one place, they will surely cause some disruption. Either they will fight with each other or they will form a group and do stuff which will disturb social order.

Marriage was invented so that “Power” and “Energy” is channeled towards “Domestication”.

The moment a Bachelor is married, he will use his energy to do constructive things so that he and his partner can live a comfortable life. This is exactly what nature wants the man to do, to provide for the female and the child that follows as a result of their union, thereby supporting civilization and prosperity.
